Sarina Designs Doily Couture ranges for winter 2010

Winter 09 is in production. I had so much fun making this stuff up. Can't wait to wear it.

Here's an overview of what's coming:

Peace Corps in 2 tone Khaki cotton modal baby terry. This is SO soft and stretchy.i was inspired to design this range one morning at breakfast while my girls were fighting. my husband pointed out as i was trying to stop the fight with bribery and sanctions and i was dressed in my beloved army fatigues that it was all rather Peace Corps - like.

I combined the Khaki with lace and an antiqued white rose of peace logo. My girls and i think this range is pretty cool. Friends who saw it said they'd wear it everywhere, not just to sleep in but it is super comfy and slouchy to sleep in and hang about eh house in (loungewear).

Fleur De Lis; this one we made up in Bamboo Cotton. It's oh so soft and Soooo pretty. I've drawn up in pencil a repeat fabric design based on the Fleur de lis and then also drawn up aged Fleur de lis & a logo. This range has pink laces, red ribbons and top stitching. Divine.

White Rose: OK. i love this one. Traditional blue and white stripe on 100%slub cotton with blue topstitching. There is the usual unorthodox twist in tailoring, the few odd quirks going on. I've made a gorgeous PJ set and nightie and then there's indigo-denim blue pieces to mix'n match (these pieces will also look great with jeans). The placement prints are white roses held tgether with ribbon and they're slightly tattooish in style.

Summer 10

yes, we work THAT far ahead.

I've almost finished the 4 summer ranges for 10. The last range is still in pieces on the studio floor awaiting sewing. This one is China Rose and it's a hot pink 100% cotton knit combined with a woven. Inspired by my daughter's martial arts/Kung fu suit for shapes and the artwork was inspired by a Chinese label on some fabric i saw. Very funny text. Also an ancient looking Chinese coin. I draw these things up but then making them is a whole exploration process where as you sew you invent the "look" that will differentiate that range.

Then there is something unusal for me; a white & cream - and a BLACK & cream range with cream rose placement prints Bianco. It has vintage shell buttons and some velevt stretch ribbon and is very pretty.

Antique Hibiscus: firstly i painted and sanded a repeat design of Hibiscus (which we'll print up into sarongs and bags soon) and then had visions of these old fashioned PJ's. It's kinda Elvis-meets-Gidget-in-Hawaii for a surf safari and my inner surfie chick came out. There's an Ockinui short, an old fashioned boxer, THE safari shirt (it's SO cool and twisted with odd buttons galore) and then some plain white pieces to mix in and break it up. I've drawn up a hard-core-Hibiscus(?) design for the placement print.

La Vie en Rose: revamped, reworked and refabricated! Apple green and white check. We'll put this into a beautiful new lightweight cotton. You'll be able to buy some new pieces and mix and match these with your pink ones if you haven't worn them out.

Back to sewing. Just had my Singer sewng machines serviced and they're sewing beautifully! I have 5 machines here in the studio......
